"Exploring what it means to be human through the creative spirit of Shakespeare"

History

"Come early, bring your blankets, picnic baskets and families to enjoy a full evening of outdoor entertainment."

So urged the flyer for the first season of Shakespeare On The Green. In its history, Shakespeare On The Green has gained national recognition for its consistently high-quality productions, the beauty of Young Park setting and for steadily growing, enthusiastic audiences. Thanks to the dedicated core group of benefactors, volunteers and skilled artists, Shakespeare On The Green has become a summer tradition for the people of Omaha and the Great Plains region.

"An inclusive world of belonging for every Nebraskan through bold, authentic, artistic experiences"

Vision

Nebraska Shakespeare Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we gather as Nebraska Shakespeare on these traditional lands of the Omaha and Ponca Peoples past and present, now known as Omaha, Nebraska; and we honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations. This also calls us to commit to continuing to learn how to be better stewards of the land we inhabit.

Statement of Support for Black Lives Matter

In solidarity we speak out against racism and systemic oppression. We are committed to providing a safe place for ALL people to connect with nature, reflect, and heal. We have much to learn, and much to accomplish. We confront racism and systematic discrimination with self-reflection, awareness, and outreach. Through collaboration with university, local, state, and national organizations, we are committed to promoting the well-being of BIPOC and those from under-represented communities.
